First, her career coach helped Ayesha clearly understand the key requirements/areas to perform well in her job. The career coach then worked with Ayesha to identify her career goals, career barriers, strengths and weaknesses, relative to the requirements of the job. Among other things, Ayesha’s strengths were her communication and interpersonal skills. Her barriers/weaknesses were being prone to stress, in-ability to transition to a leadership role and organisational/time management skills.
The final step performed by the career coach was to develop a detailed plan, to help Ayesha capitalise on her strengths and improve her weaknesses. This led to greatly increased performance levels for Ayesha and enabled her to make fast career progress.
